San Francisco resident Gordon Vayo has earned a seat at the World Series of Poker Main Event. This the second year in a row a Bay area player has achieved the honor. Last year they were represented by Neil Blumenfield.
"It’s pretty crazy,” Vayo said in a phone interview last week. “Even though I expected to have a successful career, this is something I never really envisioned. The odds are so astronomical against you that it’s not something that as a professional poker player you plan for or strive for.”
The 29 year old has been playing high-stakes poker for over a decade and has lots of live tournament experience but said the WSOP’s Main Event is like no other game.
