A Royal Flush gone really bad has put Christian Lusardi in serious trouble as he has recently been sentenced to five years in prison with a fine of restitution in the amount of over $450,000 after he was found guilty of bringing millions of dollars’ worth of counterfeit chips to a poker tournament at the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 2014.
Lusardi’s fear and cold feet ultimately are what did him in as after he cashed out a win of about $6,800 and then went to his room at Harrah’s and flushed his chips down the toilet. Unfortunately for Lusardi the chips that he flushed down the toilet clogged the pipes with almost $10,000 in damage and it was this that ultimately led to his arrest.
Because of the incident The Borgata was forced to cancel the poker tournament and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement ordered the casino to refund all of the player entries and distribute the $1.5 million in prize money evenly to the remaining 27 players that were left in the tourney.
Lusardi has been in plenty of trouble over the past year as the 43-year old was convicted of copyright infringement and trafficking counterfeit labels from a DVD bootlegging business that he was running. That guilty sentence cost him $1.1 million.
Because Lusardi was playing dirty the entire time with fake chips, Borgata has bene forced to change its chips. The new chips are more intricate and difficult to counterfeit.
