The last big poker tournament of 2014 was won by poker professional Mohsin Charania who took the title at the World Poker Tour Five Diamond Poker Classic. Charania won more almost $1.5 million as he topped a field of 626 players in the $10,400 buy-in event.
Mohsin Charania has already had a successful career, winning the 2012 European Poker Tour Grand Final and the 2013 WPT Grand Prix de Paris. His lifetime earnings are now nearly $5 million dollars.
Charania did not have an easy road to winning the Five Diamond Poker Classic as he was actually the shortest stack when they started day 4 with 78 players remaining. He was able to make a comeback but even starting the final table he was fifth in chip position among the final six players. He made up ground and eventually got heads-up against Garrett Greer. He started heads-up play at a big disadvantage as he was down 9-1 in chips to Greer. With a lot of great play Charania was able to get back to almost even in chips when a key hand occurred. Charania had a pair of 3’s while Greer had A-K so it was a race that Charania won. That double up pretty much ended the tournament as several hands later Charania went on to win.
