Some online poker pros are looking forward to the first-ever online poker tournament at the World Series of Poker. The 2015 World Series of Poker will feature a $1,000 buy-in online event that will have players competing at WSOP.com beginning on Thursday, July 2nd. The final players will end up playing in a live setting at the Rio on July 4th.
Some online poker pros are excited to play in the first-ever online event at the WSOP while others think the tourney is overrated. "My favorite part of the schedule is the online bracelet," 2012 World Series of Poker champ Greg Merson said, "Online has been a big boost for the game and rewarding the industry with a bracelet is amazing." On the other side, 2013 WSOP bracelet winner Trevor Pope said, "I think the WSOP online event is going to be quite overrated. I am guessing the structure is going to be pretty bad, and the thing that the WSOP probably doesn’t understand is that the majority of online poker players prefer to play multiple tables. Saying that, getting all these online pros to sit there and play one table is going to be quite funny to me.”
The 2015 World Series of Poker begins on Wednesday, May 27 and consists of a record 68 bracelet events. The $10,000 Main Event will begin on Sunday, July 5 with the November Nine to be determined on July 14th.
